Our Mission
Delivering reliable, professional exterior cleaning that protects properties and enhances curb appeal across Halifax and Nova Scotia.
We help homeowners, real estate agents and property managers restore and protect their properties with precision and care — using industry-grade equipment, eco-friendly detergents, and low-pressure soft washing methods that never risk the surfaces we're there to clean.
How It Started
From contract work to ownership
I was on a contract in Ontario, and as it wound down I had one of those moments where you either line up the next thing or you ask yourself if you actually want to. I’d always wanted to try running something of my own. The timing wasn’t perfect, but timing never is — so instead of finding the next contract, I started WashCrafters.
I ran it for a summer and fall in Kingston, Ontario first, long enough to know the model worked. What I didn’t know was whether it would translate — different market, different pace, different way people make decisions about who they let onto their property. Turns out the bones were solid. The adjustments were more about tone and patience than anything structural.
Coming Home
Kingston, Ontario to Bedford, Nova Scotia
We were in Nova Scotia from 2018 to 2024 before that. We left for family reasons and for opportunities that, honestly, didn’t materialize the way we hoped. And the whole time, something was missing.
So when it came time to put the business down somewhere permanent, Bedford wasn’t a new market to figure out — it was home. Coming back wasn’t a consolation. It was a correction. You don’t always know what you’ve built somewhere — the community, the pace, the feeling of actually fitting — until you leave it, spend time trying to find it somewhere else, and can’t.
Earning Trust the Slow Way
Trust here isn’t given. It’s earned — and it lasts.
I figured trust would be the mountain to climb here. You’re the person from away, with no local history, asking people to let you show up at their house with high-pressure equipment. I wasn’t wrong — trust is earned slowly in Nova Scotia, and it should be. What I underestimated was how durable that trust is once you have it. In Ontario, a good experience gets you a five-star review. Here, it gets you three referrals and someone’s neighbour flagging you down in a parking lot.
There was a job in Bedford — a house wash on a home that had clearly been fighting Nova Scotia’s climate for a few years. When the moss and algae came off, the homeowner came outside, went quiet for a second, and said, “I’m calling my sister.” Not “I’ll think about it.” Not “can I get a quote.” Just: I’m calling my sister. That felt less like validation and more like belonging.
Why We Do It This Way
A business built around a life, not the other way around
Running WashCrafters means I set the schedule now, instead of someone else owning it. I do daycare drop-offs. I do pickups. I’m present for the parts of the day that used to just happen without me. Every job still gets the same careful, honest work — it just happens on a structure I built myself.
Could I push harder, take on more, grow faster? Probably. But that costs something on the other side of the ledger, and I know what that cost looks like. It’s not worth it.
